You know I’ve noticed something as an Internet marketer. There’s a thrill of sorts in the brainstorming process. It’s like an addiction to many of us. Don’t believe me, have a look in your inbox. Most likely you’ve received at least a few emails from the same business owner within a few months of one another telling you about their newest product.
I won’t lie; I too get an adrenaline rush anytime I think of something new that I can do to grow my business. I mean, come on who doesn’t like the idea of increasing the amount of money they make? Think back to the days when you worked a J-O-B, it was always nice to get your pay check on Friday and see a raise. Tell me it wasn’t, I dare you!
When I’m brainstorming, I love the feeling I get when the wheels start turning in my mind, especially if I’ve been idling by for a bit doing the same thing over and over everyday. If you haven’t been formally introduced to the monotonous monster that creeps in when you run your own business, let me tell you, it can be pretty depressing – even if you are turning a profit.
Which brings me to another point and that’s the ability to GROW in your own business, pretty much whenever you feel like it. If you want a raise, you have the ability to give yourself one almost anytime you want to. All you need is your brain, a pen and piece of paper and you’re ready to go.
Let the brainstorming begin!
Oh wait…there’s just one problem, you’ve been in your day in and day out routine for a little while now (comfortably living with the profits you’re currently producing) and you find yourself having a hard time coming up with something new to offer. You probably have some research that you’ve done previously and know what your customers would like to see, you’re just not sure how to make it happen. So, what do you do when you can’t figure it out by yourself?
For me, the first thing I do is count my blessings.
You see, I’m lucky to have a group of like-minded business owners who are there for me whenever I need a helping hand. I am a member of a mastermind group and that means I have access to tips, suggestions, advice and feedback on just about anything I have going on in my business…whenever I want it. Even better, the group I belong to holds weekly brainstorming calls for elite members.
I just pop in on the call or into the forum, post my ideas and before I know it I’ve got tons of ideas from fellow members to work with.
The coolest part of a brainstorming session for many is the outcome. It’s indescribable the feeling you get when you’re able to look at a product you’ve created, watch the sales come in and proudly exclaim “I did that!” For me, it’s the ability to help others do the same thing when they need it too.
That’s what a mastermind group is all about – creating a safe environment where others on the same wavelength can share their ideas, receive honest, un-biased feedback and help others do the same. In a great mastermind group, every member feels right at home to ponder, plan and profit in their own business, without having to go it alone.
I highly suggest you find one filled with people you can trust: people who will give you honest feedback and insightful direction. Yes, most of them do charge a monthly fee. I’ve seen the cost go as high as $500 a month. But I can’t imagine any that’s better than the one I belong to.
