I laugh every time someone makes the comment, “Well-written copy is automatically accepted by the search engines.” NOT! Listen as I explain why SEO copywriting rarely happens all by itself.

Wonderfully put, Karon. I always find it amusing when people make blanket statements without thinking out exactly what they are saying. Thanks for taking the time to insightfully clarify the subject. Have a great time out there.
Corey! Thanks for stopping by. Appreciate your comments.
While I agree that organic SEO does not usually happen organically, I would make the case that SEO and good copywriting can go hand in hand. My approach is to write good copy first, then embed keyword phrases where they are strategically most valuable and where they make the most sense.
Hi Thomas. Thanks for stopping by. Oh, I preach constantly that natural-sounding, well-written copy and SEO copy are not mutually exclusive. This person was saying that all you had to do was write great copy with no keywords and the engines would pick it up. Not if you are working with the copy alone, they won’t 🙂 With linking, yes… but that’s a different post 🙂 I actually go about it the opposite of you. I get my keyphrases lines up first and work them in as I go. That way I have them in mind when I write and don’t have to wedge them in later. Whatever works, right?
Well, organic SEO is the way to do it because you won’t get banned by major search engine.
Thanks for stopping by Alexis. Unfortunately, just aiming for organic ranks does not mean you won’t get banned by the search engines. You could easily use practices that are illegal and would get your site banned.
Karon,
I am glad that there are experts like you to dispel these myths. I just started my writing career and a small business in SEO. While I am still learning, I need sources that are factual and reliable. Thank you!
Glad to have you around, Venia. Welcome to the blog!
