It seems many of my blog posts come from client questions or comments. But hey… that’s a great way for me to share insights with you. I had one client that I was discussing PPC landing pages with. At one point we talked about SEO landing pages – as in optimized for organic/free engines. I offered a tidbit of advice.
If you’re creating landing pages strictly to support PPC ads, you’ll want to block the pages from access to search engine spiders and bots. The traffic that might come from an open-access landing page could easily skew your results. While using Google’s Webmaster Tools or AdWords tracking would give a good indication of success or failure, people clicking to the landing page from regular search engine results pages (SERPs) could cause unnecessary confusion and inaccurate data.
I always find it’s better to keep PPC landing pages hidden.
