If you’ve had anything to do with SEO copywriting for very long, I’m sure you’ve come across some pretty quirky keyphrases before. Trouble is, these terms can be excellent for brining in qualified traffic. And, if these terms are the ones actually being typed into the query fields by searchers, they can be useful in your copy. But how do you work in a phrase like “Society Hill Charlotte homes?”
What has given SEO copywriters a bad name are those people who would just stick that phrase into the copy as-is. You’d be reading along and all of the sudden you might find at sentence like, “If you’re looking for Society Hill Charlotte homes call me today.” Hmph! Not good. What you can do instead is break the phrase up.
One of the most popular areas in which to live is Society Hill. Charlotte homes in this district are more traditional than ….
Much better!
What about the ones that can’t be broken up or don’t sound as good when they are separated? Like, for instance, “boutiques girl toddlers.” Yes you could write, “Yadda yadda yadda boutiques. Girl toddlers are cute and sassy…” But honestly, that’s pretty poor copy. What I typically do in these cases is to keep the words of the phrase in the same order, but separate them with other words. You’ll want to put as few words as possible between each of the words within the phrase.
You’ll get a diverse selection and better quality clothing at boutiques. Dress your little girl in fashions for toddlers by famous makers like…
Don’t let the tough phrases scare you, but don’t force them either. IF they apply to the page you’re writing for and are truly the best choice of search terms, by all means take the extra effort to work them in.
