I’ve known Susanne Meyers and Tracy Roberts (of Piggy Makes Bank) for years. Honestly, until I met them, I didn’t really give a second thought to white label / private label rights (PLR) content. Boy, was I missing out! As a course creator and blogger, PLR is a priceless resource that I’ve used time and again.
But a lot of people have a complete misunderstanding about the purpose of PLR… and so they are neglecting a powerful tool. That’s why I invited Susanne to school us all on 7 primary benefits of using white label content. Take it away Susanne.

To have a viable online business, you need to reach out to new audiences. One of the best ways to do that is through engaging content on your blog. It gives you fresh material to share on social media and more opportunities to rank well for terms your ideal customers are searching for.
Here’s the problem: Writing fresh content from scratch takes a lot of time and effort. I’m here to share one of my favorite shortcuts with you — starting with pre-written articles (called private label rights content, PLR, or white label content).
Here’s the thing: There’s a right way and a wrong way to use white label content. It can be a powerful tool and a shortcut to creating custom content for your audience. But simply copying and pasting the PLR articles to your site will get you little to no results. It’s all in the quality of the materials you get and what you do with those materials.
When Karon and I talked about this guest blog post, she brought up a great analogy. She compared PLR to store-bought cake mix. You would never come home, stick a spoon in the box of mix, and start eating. It’s not good that way.
Everybody buys the same cake mix, but you add your own eggs, your own oil, etc. Even better… make something fun and delicious (and unique) by putting your own twist on it.
Throw in some chocolate chips, nuts, or extra flavoring and voilà ! You have a masterpiece.
By customizing the mix, you can quickly come up with something that will impress your guests… or your readers. Let me show you how to do that with your next white label content pack.
1.  Create Fresh Blog Posts With PLR Articles
How long does it take you to write the first draft of a new blog post? How long from idea to getting the words on the page? If you’re quick, this could take as little as 30 minutes, provided you have an idea to begin with and don’t require much research.
But what about those days when inspiration doesn’t strike? That’s when white label content comes to the rescue. You don’t have to go searching for something to blog about. Instead you start with a well-researched idea and the majority of your content is pre-written for you. Your job is to tweak it and add to it, so it speaks to your audience.
This doesn’t have to be involved or complicated. I’m going to assume that you know who your target audience is. If you don’t, Karon has an excellent video & cheat sheet to help you figure that out.
Use their language. Include terms and examples that they identify with as you edit the content to make it speak to them. Private label rights content is written pretty generically. It’s your job to edit as needed to inflect your voice and — more important — speak to your people. This process is much quicker and easier than writing a blog post from scratch.
2.  Drastically Reduce Brainstorming & Research Time
Do you remember the early days of your blog? You thought you couldn’t possibly run out of things to write about. A few years, or even a few months later, it becomes a bit of a struggle to come up with fresh content ideas. Why don’t you let your favorite PLR providers do it for you instead?
Good PLR is also well researched. Some white label customers buy packs for this benefit alone — they read through an article bundle, then sit down and write a few blog posts of their own based on the research. If you get value out of a PLR pack that way, great. Of course, you can use the actual written content as well, but realize that you save more than the time it takes you to write. You also save the hassle of brainstorming and researching.
3.  Eliminate Writer’s Block With Pre-Written Content
Do you ever find yourself staring at a blank screen, trying to come up with something to write about, only to have the cursor blink angrily at you because the words don’t flow? Why not browse through some of the white label content, pick one article, and copy and paste it in as a draft?
You now have a framework to guide you that you can mold and shape into an engaging post your readers are eager to read. All it takes is an infusion of your voice, the addition of some information specific to you/your biz, a bit of formatting to match your style, and an eye-catching image. No more writer’s block, because the biggest chunk of the writing is already done for you.
4.  Stick To Your Content Publishing Schedule
The big search engines love fresh content on your site. Your readers love to hear from you regularly. In an ideal world, we’d all publish fresh content three to five times a week. But what happens when you fall behind? What happens when you are too busy to create your new product, serve your coaching clients, go on vacation, or get sick? Simple… you do what many professional, full-time bloggers do… start with PLR content.
Pick up a pack of 10 pre-written articles. Paste each of them into individual blog post drafts. Set aside a little time to edit, tweak, format, and add images. Then you have 10 new blog posts ready to publish whenever you need them. That’s content — ready to go — and it’s all done in one afternoon. Does sticking to your content publishing schedule seem more manageable now?
Editing Your White Label Content In 3 Quick & Easy Steps
“Isn’t private label rights content sold to numerous people?”
“What if another blogger bought the same pack and adds the articles to their blog? My answer is always the same… PLR is a template. A box of cake mix. If you take a few minutes to customize the articles and make them your own, you’ll have something special your readers will clamor for. And I can prove it to you.

Tracy often sends me links to blog posts that our customers put together. They use articles I have written and I don’t even recognize them.
Here’s how to make each blog post your very own in 3 very simple steps:
- Change The Title — Pick a keyword and rework the title to include the term you want to rank for. Or change it to something catchy that you think will resonate with your audience.
- Customize It For Your Readers — This doesn’t have to be complicated or hard. Throw in a reference or example that speaks directly to them. For example, if the post is about email marketing for local businesses and your readers own flower shops, mention something that applies directly to them. Perhaps how to send emails about custom Valentine’s Day bouquets, or offering a special coupon during a slow time of the year. Or how a about a bouquet-of-the-month option?
- Add An Image (Or Two) — Last, but not least, add a couple of images or graphics to your post. You can use stock photos for this or take your own. Not only will it make your content unique, it’s another chance to customize the pre-written content to speak to your particular target audience. As an added bonus, graphics help you get your readers’ attention and promote your content on social media.
5.  Keep Your Readers Engaged With Blog Post Series
One of the stats I’m always tracking closely on my niche sites is the bounce rate. I want readers to stick around and read multiple posts. I’m sure you feel the same. But it takes a little time to get someone hooked on a blog that’s new to them.
A really good way to keep your readers engaged and reading more is through blog post series that you can interlink. The problem is, instead of just one post, you now have to write seven… or 10! Writing a blog post series can seem daunting.
How can private label rights content help? Simple — an article pack is essentially 10 related pieces of content, or … you guessed it, a blog post series. You don’t have to research the topic. You don’t have to come up with 10 different blog post ideas. Best of all, you don’t have to write them from scratch.
6.  Grow Your List With Content Upgrades Made From PLR
Content upgrades are an ideal way to build your list. Let’s look at how you can quickly create content upgrades (lead-gen freebies) with a PLR pack.
Good PLR providers will offer 10 articles compiled into one Word document. Add a title page, an about-the-author section, and — if you’d like — a resources section at the end where you can include affiliate links. Edit the articles (which would count as chapters), format the ebook, and convert it into a PDF. Upload the new lead magnet to your site and you’re ready to attract new subscribers.
Next, you add individual articles from the ebook as a post on your blog. Include a call to action and an opt-in form inviting them to join your list in exchange for the lead magnet that includes all tips and ideas on the topic. To clarify, you will do this for each of the 10 articles. Start publishing your new blog posts one at a time, promote them on social media, link to them from relevant older posts. Drive a little traffic to these blog posts and watch your list grow.
Pre-written content can help you with more than just custom blog posts tailored for your target audience. Think of it as a starting point for all your written content needs. Let’s look at two examples where white label content can give you leverage to publish sooner and grow faster.
7.  Save Money When Creating Paid Products & Membership Site Content By Using PLR Instead Of Ghostwriters
You can also use PLR to create paid products like ebooks and courses, or use it as part of your membership site content.
Start with the PLR pack and customize it as your own. Just like with blog posts, you’ll add your voice, your style, your examples, your formatting, and your graphics. The majority of the research and writing will be done for you. Then compile it into an ebook or course that you sell, or drip the content out through your membership site.
It’s a much less expensive alternative to hiring a ghostwriter or spending weeks of your time creating the content from scratch. PLR gives you the leverage you need to grow faster and publish more often.

Awesome tips Karon! Another great tip is to use your PLR articles and repurpose it into other formats like documents, audio, video or even ebooks. And then market it on various social sites like YouTube, slideshare etc A nice way to market your brand and get extra traffic. But you have to rebrand it with your brand and add your insights.
